Panthers Lose to Visiting Mountaineers 42-14

The Georgia State University Panthers hoped to resume their winning streak by defeating the Appalachian State Mountaineers.

Instead, they wound up losing in decisive fashion to the Mountaineers in their own stadium, 42-14.

The Panthers couldn’t even get into the endzone until the fourth quarter when they scored two touchdowns, Darren Grainger throwing a 3-yard pass to Tailique Williams and a 1-yard pass to Robert Lewis. The Mountaineers racked up six touchdowns, the most impressive being a 77-yard Dalton Stroman pass from QB Joey Aguilar in the 3rd quarter.

Grainger went 15 of 28 for 115 yards. He had 2 touchdowns and an interception. Aguilar went 12 of 21 for 255 yards. He got 3 TD’s and an interception. GSU’s Marcus Carroll got 113 yards on 34 carries.

The Panthers go on the road to face LSU this Saturday.
