The Atlanta Braves announced today that second baseman Ozzie Albies will be on the 10-day injured list, with a right great toe fracture.
Albies got this injury after last night’s game against the Houston Astros. He was it by a pitch in the second inning. The Braves won that game 6-1.
Albies told the press that he thought the initial pain would go away and only leave a bruise. He played the rest of the game despite the injury. When he removed his shoes after the game, the pain got worse to the extent he knew something was noticeably wrong. An X-ray and MRI showed his big toe was fractured.
“You can see the crack on the [x-ray] picture, from now on, it depends on how I feel the next upcoming days, he said.”
Ozzie Albies is still here with the team in Houston, wearing a protective walking boot. Said after he was hit he hoped it was just a bone bruise, but pain continued and worsened when he took off his shoe after game. X-ray and MRI showed the fractured big toe. No timetable.

According to a social media post by The Athletic‘s Braves beat writer David O’Brien, Albies, who remains in Houston with the team, was wearing a protective walking boot.
He said he hoped he would be back in action in two weeks.
“The good thing is it is not a surgical thing,” Braves manager Brian Snitker told the press before today’s game. He added that Albies would be missed on the field as he recovers.
“Ozzie’s a hard guy to replace, I mean this guy’s an all-star,” he said “I feel good about the guys we have to fill the void.”
Albies is the third Braves starter who has been sidelined by injuries. Sean Murphy, and Spencer Strider were added to the injury list earlier this season.
The Braves subsequently announced that they called up veteran infielder David Fletcher, formerly with Triple-A Gwinnett.
