- Bijan Robinson got 193 scrimmage yards, the second most in a single game in his career. Some of his teammates and coaches owe him an apology for losing this game despite his best efforts.
- How is Falcons’ special teams doing?
A note on Falcons’ special teams:
Falcons entered the day averaging a league-worst 22.3 yards per kickoff return this season, on pace to drop further today.

- ESPN’s Marc Raimondi says the Falcons were 1-6 outright as favorites this season, according to ESPN’s Research
- Falcons’ win-loss record last year was 8-9. 7-10 in 2023, 7-10 in 2022, and 7-10 in 2021. This year’s Falcons are on track to meet if not do worse than these numbers.
- Raheem Morris says “stats are for losers.” He may not like the stats of the teams he is about to face. The Seahawks are 9-3, same as the Rams. The Bucs are 7-5. Only the Cardinals (3-9) and Saints (2-10) have losing records, but losing to a 2-9 team today (Jets) doesn’t make you feel much better about their chances with even those underachievers.
- Agnew’s screw up on the 2nd yard line and Gonzalez’s missed field goal were the difference in this loss. Special teams and kicking have been a problem for the Falcons all year, and thwarted a Falcons win today.
- No other NFL team has a knack for racking up big total yardage numbers (389; by comparison, the Jets got 269) and still lose, like the Atlanta Falcons.
- In fact the Falcons out-ranked the Jets in many key parameters: passing yards 222/159, rushing yards 167/110, yards per play 5.8/4.3, and time of possession 32:55/27:05. Pro football stat crunchers will be up all night trying to figure out how you get these numbers and still lose. Nah. They’ll just chalk it up to it being the Falcons and go back to bed!
