Jamal Agnew’s time with the Falcons has come to an end.
The punt returner was released from the team’s roster today, according to the Falcons. He had been with the team since March of this year, when he was signed as a free agent. The veteran Pro Bowler has been in the NFL for nine years.
As a Falcon, he returned 15 punts for a total of 114 yards, averaging 7.6 yards per game. He returned 30 kickoffs for 741 yards.
Agnew’s fortunes went down on Week 12 on November 30 when a fumble during a punt return gave the Jets short field advantage and resulting Jets touchdown. This contributed to an upset 27-24 win over the Falcons by the Jets. He was taken out of action for last week’s Buccaneers game.
This story was originally reported 12/20/25 by team reporters Tori McElhaney and Terrin Waack.
In other Falcons personnel news, the team announced the signing of cornerback C.J. Henderson to the active roster. Wide receiver Chris Blair and edge rusher Khalid Kareem have been elevated to the main roster for tomorrow’s game vs. the Arizona Cardinals. All three were originally on the Falcons’ practice squad.
