Coach Morris gives updates on Falcons ahead of the Panthers meet.
Falcons Coach Raheem Morris held his Wednesday almost noon meeting at Flowery Branch today.
- No A.J. Terrell at practice today. Morris said they would evaluate his status throughout the week. He said Terrell is on a “week-to-week”, not “day-to-day” situation. He suffered a hamstring injury during Sunday’s game.
- Morris on kicker Parker Romo: “I was proud of how he responded in the short week.” Morris said. “It’s one of those things where you have to take advantage of an opportunity, and he did.”
- Morris said he’s glad Bijan Robinson is on his team. He added that Robinson is the best player in football.
- About the Falcons’ opponents next Sunday: “You’re not supposed to like the Panthers, and we don’t.”
- Morris wasn’t surprised by the breakout performance of the rookie defense on Sunday. “It was cool, but at the same time, I’ve been watching it all offseason,” he said. ‘But for the world, it was great, especially in a prime-time game.”
- Falcons QB Michael Penix Jr. didn’t go for the long ball very much in the last few games. Morris says…”I think Mike is just growing and developing as our quarterback. He’ll do what it takes to win.”
- Speaking of Penix Jr., QB 1 said he thought it was “good” to see right tackle Elijah Wilkinson doing what he was expected to do.
- Falcons OC Zac Robinson on the defensive adjustments between the Week 1 loss to the Bucs and the Week 2 defeat of the Vikings: “I think the biggest thing for us is we’re able to morph in and out of personnel based on what we’re seeing.”
- Robinson on Penix Jr.’s game time thinking when the opponent takes away his passing ability. “He could feel what type of game it was.”
- Robinson on the return of Darnell Mooney: “It was great to have him out there,” he said. “You feel his speed.”
- Kicker Younghoe Koo was on the practice field today, reports WSB TV’s Alison Mastrangelo.
