Acuna Now Sole Member of 40/70 Club, Braves Land Home Field Advantage in NLDS

Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna can’t stop re-writing the record books.

As his team prepares to compete for the National League title, and possible a World Series Championship after that, Acuna is further expanding his impressive lead in stolen bases and home runs this season.

Acuna stole his 70th base tonight in the 10th inning, becoming the only major leaguer this season to score 70 stolen bases and 40 home runs simultainously. After that acomplishment, the Braves broke a tie in the same inning with a base hit by Ozzie Albies, giving the team a win and as result, home field advantage in the National League Divisional Series.

The accomplishment of being the sole member of the 40/70 club helps make the case for Acuna becoming the MLB Most Valuable Player, despite much speculation that L.A. Dodgers Mookie Betts seems most likely to get that honor.

Acuna, who appeared at a press conference with his two children, is now the proud owner of the base he stole. He pulled it out of the ground at Truist Park after he made the key slide into second base.
