Atlanta United’s Patience Pays Off With Late Goal Win Over DC United

Atlanta United got the win against D.C. United, but it took a lot of work and nearly most of the game.

Thiago Almada came through in the 79th minute with a successful goal, giving them the lead that wouldn’t have held until full-time, had it not been for goalkeeper Brad Guzan preventing a DC goal in the final seconds.

The 1-0 win gives the team 3 points, the first win for interim head coach Rob Valentino, and their first road win since their 1-3 win over Inter Miami on May 29.

This win also helps Atlanta United crawl closer to playoff territory. Now in tenth place with a 5-5-8 record, they have ninth-seed Philadelphia ahead of them in the playoff line.
