Falcons prep to “earn the right” to defeat Bills on upcoming MNF.
Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. had some thoughts to share with the press as the all-important Monday night football game against the Bills gets closer. Also speaking out today at practice: OC Zac Robinson, DC Jeff Ulbrich, and RB Bijan Robinson.
- Penix Jr. says the play-action calls bring “a spark to our offense whenever we are calling it and running it.”
- Says OT Elijah Wilinson has been “great”, and “can’t find a bad thing to say” about RB Bijan Robinson.
- On the Bills QB Josh Allen: You got to respect,” Penix Jr. said. “You got to respect what he’s done in this league and what he brings each and every game.”
- On Buffalo’s defense: “You can tell those guys have been together for a while. They have an identity.”
- On what he learned from watching the Bill’s Drake Maye: “We want to make sure we protect the ball and don’t cause any self-inflicted wounds.”
- Offensive coordinator Zac Robinson will remain on the field. Says he should have been on the sidelines beginning Week 1. Robinson also added that he needed more situational awareness himself on the field after getting mowed down by DB Billy Bowman Jr. in Week 4.
- Robinson said the Falcons’ offense “has been playing well.”
- Robinson offered no comments on reports that he was being considered for a head coaching position at Oklahoma State.
- On Bills’ defense: “They’re really sound,” Robinson said. “They’ve got their system that they run. They’ve had a lot of continuity over the years. They’ve had a lot of good players. We know it’ll be a great challenge for us.”
- A.J. Terrell returned to the practice field today. Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich says Terrell will be a “huge boost” to their defense.
- Ulbrich says the Falcons are going to have to play their best game against the tough Bills. “We got to earn the right to win this game.”
- Ulbrich says the team is happy to have DT Ta’Quon Graham back from injured reserve.
- Bijan Robinson told the press trash-talking on the field isn’t his thing. “I don’t say a word, so it’s awkward for them,” he said.
- Injury Report: Terrell did limited workouts today, but WR Darnell Mooney (hamstring) and CB Clark Phillips III (triceps) did not participate. Limited workouts today were WR KhaDarel Hodge (groin), and CB Natrone Brooks (concussion/shoulder). Full workouts were RB Nathan Carter (hamstring) and Ta’Quaon Graham (calf).
