UPDATE. 7:16 PM: The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported that AJ Smith-Shawver has a Grade 2 oblique sprain, according to an MRI he took this afternoon. The typical recovery time for such injuries is six to eight weeks. The Braves have not commented on this report.

The Atlanta Braves announced changes prior to today’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The team announced today they have recalled left-handed pitcher Ray Kerr to the team to start tonight’s game. Right handed pitcher AJ Smith-Shawver is now on the 15-day injured list with a strained left oblique muscle.
In addition, the Braves announced the signing of infielder Joey Wendle to the team and optioned infielder Luke Williams to Triple-A Gwinnett.
These moves take effect as the Braves begin a three-game series against the Pirates, with the first pitch at 6:40 pm tonight.
