Dream’s Howard Joins USA Basketball’s 3X3 Team

The Atlanta Dream’s Rhyne Howard has been named part of the USA Basketball 3X3 Women’s National Team.

This means Howard will be representing the United States in Paris this summer in the Olympics, where she will join Cameron Brink (Los Angeles Sparks), Cierra Burdick (Valencia Basket Club), and Hailey Van Lith (TCU Horned Frogs) in competing for gold. All four women were chosen by the USA Basketball 3X3 Women’s National Team Committee.

Howard was one of twelve players who was named to the 2024 USA Olympic Qualifying team last February. She previously represented Team USA at the 2021 FIBA Americup, 2019 FIBA U19 World Cup and the 2018 FIBA U18 Americas Championship.

Having officially made Team USA, Howard, age 24, will be the youngest Dream player ever to compete in the Olympics. She’s only the third Dream member to play in the Olympics, along with Angel McCoughtry and Érika de Souza.

“Being able to be an Olympian this early in my career, it’s exciting and surreal,” Howard told USA Basketball in April this year. “I’m looking forward to bringing home the gold but also coming home with the experience of 3×3 and bringing that back to the W.”

The Women’s 3X3 Pool Round begins July 30, with the U.S. vying with France, China, Germany, Canada, Spain, Australia and Azerbaijan.
