Chris Eubanks‘ dream Wimbledon journey ended today.
He lost to number 3 seed Daniil Medvedev in a five-set tennis match this morning in the quarterfinals. A captivated audience of fans in Atlanta and worldwide watched the Georgia Tech grad compete for the top prize at Wimbledon, the first appearance there in nine previous attempts. He was the last remaining American male tennis player left in the competition.
Eubanks went 6-4, 1-6, 4-6, 7-6 (4), and 6-1. He lost the fourth set in a tiebreaker, then his serve was broken three times in the final and decisive set.
Medvedev will face top-ranked Carlos Alcaraz for a place in the finals.
Atlanta, meanwhile, celebrated Eubanks’ memorable and inspiring run.
