Not much positive to draw from 31-13 Falcons loss.

The Falcons ended their preseason arguably looking worse than they did when they started.
It’s a known fact that the weakest part of the team has been their offensive line, but the front office has been working to address this perennial shortcoming with this year’s draft and free agency signings. It seemed like they were making progress.
But the practice injury of Kaleb McGary and the surgery of Storm Norton dragged Falcons nation back down to earth about the state of the Falcons’ offense.
The third game against the Dallas Cowboys at Jerry’s House did the Dirty Birds no favors. This game didn’t count, being that it’s a preseason game, but it showed off the team’s depth and whether enough stars were created that could make the final 53-man roster. The final verdict on this game was not encouraging.
The Falcons were consistently outfoxed by the Cowboys. They could not slow the Cowboys down, and the offense was never able to move the chains consistently. QB Easton Stick was good (20/28; 198 yds.; 1 TD), but would have been better had he not thrown an interception that got cashed in for a Cowboys touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Standouts on the night were Ronnie Harrison Jr. on defense (7 tackles), Nick Nash (6 rec; 87 yds.), Elijah Dotson, who went 77 yards on 20 carries Friday.
Younghoe Koo went 2 of 3 on his kicks. He should be safe to start this regular season, but he did little to quiet concerns about his kicking consistency.
The Falcons ended up losing a somewhat dull game 13-31. The Falcons remain winless in their last six preseason appearances. The good news is that those games don’t count towards the regular season.
The bad news is that the next 17 games do. And we still don’t know how good (or bad) these new and improved Falcons actually are. We will find out in the regular season games to come when the starters take the field.
