Hawks Lose in Double Overtime As Regular Season Winds Down

The next-to-last regular season home game for the Atlanta Hawks ended in a double overtime loss against the Miami Heat, 117-111.

The Hawks never were able to stay consistently ahead of the visiting Heat, leading only six times and never than four points. Those four points came during the first overtime, with D’Andre Hunter and Dejounte Murray jump shots and Bogdan Bogdanovic shooting 3 of 4 at the free throw line. The Hawks were never able to pull ahead of the Heat in the second overtime and wound up losing to the Heat.

Dejounte Murray 29 points, 13 rebounds, 13 assists, 3 3-point shots (triple-double)

DeAndre Hunter 23 pts, 11 rebs, 3 ast, 2 3pts (double-double)

Jalen Johnson 13 pts, 8 rebs, 3 ast, 1 3pt

The loss wasn’t the only bad news for the Hawks. Jalen Johnson re-entered the Hawks’ injury list, with his third right ankle injury in a five-week period. He reportedly had to be helped into the locker room after he twisted his ankle after scoring a basket in the third quarter.

This means the Hawks will likely play their last regular season home game tomorrow against the Charlotte Hornets without Johnson.

The Hawks remain locked in for the tenth seed in the upcoming play-in tournament.
