The Falcons were back at Flowery Branch after a disastrous overseas trip to Berlin, Germany, where they played the Indianapolis Colts and all they got was a lousy 31-25 loss and an even worse 3-6 record.
Coach Raheem Morris hosted a virtual press conference for the media this afternoon. He said there were no plans for staffing changes despite calls from critics and fans to send embattled offensive coordinator Zac Robinson packing.
“We’ve got a really good group of guys,” he said.
Morris acknowledged the team’s poor third-down record, saying the team has to execute plays better.
He said quarterback Michael Penix Jr.’s lack of completions in yesterday’s game would be addressed. “You never really want to blame anyone when it comes down to that,” he said. “But we got some things that we can clean up around him.” He added that Penix Jr. himself has been taking accountability for his performance.
He said that Falcons coaches have been trying to encourage Penix Jr. to run more, addressing questions of the starting QB standing in place too long and not using his feet to make plays.
Morris said LB/special teams member DeAngelo Malone will be out for some time due to an ankle injury in the 4th quarter of Sunday’s game.
