The Falcons announced three more hires today, as the team continues to firm up its coaching staff roster. There was also a change in one staff member’s position.
Barrett Rudd is the new inside linebackers coach for the team, according to the Falcons. This will be his return to coaching after spending three years (2018-22) as an inside linebackers coach for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, his alma mater. Nebraska was also where he played football, where he was a linebacker with a school record of 432 career tackles. He was drafted in 2005 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he was coached by who would be his future boss, Falcons head coach Raheem Morris.
Nick Jones comes to the Falcons from the L.A. Rams, where he was an offensive assistant working alongside Morris. He will be the Falcons offensive line coach when the new season starts. Also heading to Flowery Branch after working with the Rams is Chandler Whitmer. He was an offensive quality control coach there, where he worked for three seasons. A new hire, Whitmer will be the Falcons’ pass game specialist.
Steve King remains with the Falcons, where he has been since 2022. He is moving to assistant special teams coach, after previously holding the offensive assistant slot.
