Murphy suffered an oblique strain on the first day of the regular season against the Philadelphia Phillies. He rehabbed in Gwinnett last week, where last Tuesday he completed seven innings in his first game and hit a home run in his first at-bat, according to Battery Power.com. He had an additional homer Thursday and hit a double.
In other Braves roster moves announced today, the team officially placed Acuña Jr. on the 10-day injured list for his torn left ACL. It is expected that he will be on this list through the season upon completion of surgery for the injury.
Outfielder J.P. Martinez has been recalled to Atlanta from Gwinnett and infielder Joey Wendle has been designated for assignment.
