More changes are coming to the Atlanta Falcons roster, as the team keeps revising its roster in preparation for its eventual winnowing down to 53 men.
The team announced today that it was releasing wide receivers Frank Darby and Chris Blair. They also added defensive back Bless Austin.
Darby left the preseason game against the Dolphins Friday with a soft tissue injury.
The Falcons got Arizona State’s Darby in the 2021 NFL Draft with a sixth-round pick. He appeared in 15 games for the Falcons over two past seasons. During that time he got two receptions on five targets with 29 yards.
Blair has been waived due to an injury settlement. The Alcorn State alumni played with the Green Bay Packers practice squad in 2021 and joined the XFL this past season.
New Falcons signee Austin is in his third NFL team stint, previously playing for the New York Jets and Seattle Seahawks. He signed with the Denver Broncos but never got to play there. In his career, he made 17 starts, 29 appearances, 98 tackles, 8 interrupted passes, and 2 forced fumbles. Since his release from the Broncos, he was a free agent until he joined the Falcons today.
