AP 25 Poll: Georgia Tops First Week’s List

Every year, from the week of the start of the college football season until the week of the national championships, the Associated Press polls more than 60 sports journalists and organizations to rank the top 25 college football teams in the country. The teams are ranked based on a point system the AP awards to each vote provided by the correspondents. These polls are a big deal and are about more than just bragging rights. They can define a program, especially if the school tops the poll.

Last college football season, the Georgia Bulldogs were a consistent presence atop the poll. Can they do it again this season?

Each week, Sports in the ATL will post the AP’s top 25 list until the last poll is posted. Here is the first week’s poll. Keep in mind this particular poll covers pre-season play.
