Atlanta United Start Offseason With Roster Changes

Atlanta United closed out its just-ended 2023 season by making roster moves.

The Five Stripes announced this morning they are declining options on Machop Chol, Jackson Conway, Clement Diop, Justin Garces, and Efrain Morales. Six other players are off-contract and off the roster: Ozzie Alonso, Miguel Berry, Miles Robinson, Matheus Rossetto, Amar Sejdic, and Quentin Westberg.

Atlanta United says they remain in renewal negotiations with Morales, Robinson, and Westberg, so there’s a chance all or a few of those three could return. Berry, Conway, Garces, Chol, Purata, and Rossetto are eligible for the Re-Entry Draft. Five former members, Alonso, Robinson, Diop, Westberg, and Sejdic become eligible for free agency.

Players remaining under contract with Atlanta United are Brad Guzan, Giorgos Giakoumakis, Santiago Sosa, Thiago Almada, Brooks Lennon, Luis Abram, Erik Centeno, Noah Cobb, Derrick Etienne Jr., Ajani Fortune, Ronald Hernandez, Franco Ibarra, Saba Lobjanidze, Edwin Mosquera, Tristan Muyumba, Jamal Thiare, Caleb Wiley, and Tyler Wolff.

These moves come as the offseason for MLS officially begins Monday, December 11, with the trade window starting at 9 am on that date. End-of-year waivers start the next day, with free agency starting Dec. 13 and re-entry into MLS starting Dec. 14.
