Atlanta United announced it has signed Portuguese defender Pedro Amador to the roster.
He is on a free transfer through the 2026 MLS season with an option for 2027.
Amador, 25, will hold an international roster spot depending on when he gets his International Transfer Certificate and P-1 Visa. He is eligible to play when the MLS Secondary Transfer Window opens on July 18th.
The left-back made 114 professional appearances in Porugal’s first and second divisions with Moreirense and SC Braga. He got two goals and nine assists from his time on those teams.
“We’re excited to sign Pedro as he will bring leadership and experience to our backline as we continue to strengthen our roster this summer,” said Atlanta United Vice President and Technical Director Carlos Bocanegra, in a statement. “At 25 years old, he’s coming at a good age from a strong league in Europe and we like this experience of playing more than 100 matches in Portugal, including captaining his team in various matches last season. We look forward to welcoming him to Atlanta and having him join our group.”
The Five Stripes are looking to add more bodies with the departure of Giorgos Giakoumakis last month and the possible departure of midfielder Thiago Almada, who is reportedly finalizing a deal to move to the Brazilian club Botafogo.
