Braves Aquire Nicky Lopez from Royals in a Swap

The Atlanta Braves announced this afternoon that Kansas City Royals infielder Nicky Lopez will be joining the Braves roster.

In exchange for Lopez, the Royals will get left-handed pitcher Taylor Hearn.

Lopez, 28, has appeared in 67 games for the Royals. He bats left-handed and throws righthanded. He is a career .248 hitter (407-1,1,641), with 40 stolen bases in five seasons, according to the Braves. He played primarily as a middle infielder during 519 career games. He appeared in 242 games as a shortstop and 236 games as a second baseman.
