The Georgia Bulldogs dominated the Florida Gators on their own home field, 43-20.
This win extends the team’s already remarkable winning streak to twenty-five games and keeps them unbeaten for the season. In the SEC, the Dawgs set a school record for 24 consecutive regular season wins going back to 11/21/20, when they defeated Miss. State. It was Georgia’s third straight win over the Gators.
The Gators struck first in the first half, with a touchdown from UF quarterback Graham Mertz. But with a little more than a minute before the second quarter, the Bulldogs struck back and struck often, scoring 26 unanswered points before halftime. Georgia’s Daijun Edwards hauled in two TDs for a combined 22 rushing yards (95 total). Ladd McConkley took a 41-yard pass from QB Carson Beck for another TD.
After the half, UF would put two more TDs on the board, but were unable to catch up to Georgia, which tacked on two more TDs, one of which was a 17-yard pass from Beck to Dillion Bell, and the other, a 1-yard Kendall Minton run.
The scoring sequence was Georgia: 10-16-10-7, Florida 7-0-0-13.
Beck went 19 of 28, for 315 passing yards and two TDs. UF’s Mertz went 25 of 34 for 230 yards and two TDs. Georgia totaled 171 rushing yards (UF had 109), 315 passing yards (230 UF), and held the ball longer at 33:29 (26:31).
The Dawgs will face the Missouri Tigers next Saturday, November 4th.
