The Georgia Bulldogs secured yet another win at Sandford Stadium Saturday.
What’s different about this win is the Bulldogs didn’t wait until the second or even third quarter to put points on the board.
The 49-21 victory over the University of Alabama at Birmingham came with the Dawgs scoring in all four quarters, with 21 of those 49 points coming in the second quarter. The team has a perfect 4-0 record against the Blazers. The Dawgs are now perfect overall at 4-0.
Georgia quarterback Carson Beck went 22 of 32 for 338 passing yards and three touchdowns, one of which he carried to the end zone himself in the 3rd quarter.
Daijun Edwards led the team in rushing yards with 66 total, with 2 TDs. Brock Bowers got 121 recieving yards and 2 TDs.
UAB quarterback Jacob Zeno went 32 of 51 for 250 pass yards. He threw one interception while Beck gave up no turnovers.
Head coach Kirby Smart topped his former boss Alabama head coach Nick Saban for most victories per 100 career games in the SEC.
“It seems fast, seems very fast,” Smart told the AP after the game Saturday. Standing next to him was his quarterback, Beck. “It’s fun when you’ve got guys like this guy with you.”
It wasn’t a totally perfect win for the undefeated Bulldogs. The team struggled with ball fumbles, kick returns and missed play opportunitees at various times during the game. Coach Smart acknowledged those issues, including miscues by Beck, but he stands by the first year QB.
“Carson had a couple throws he missed I think he’d like to have back but he was pretty accurate other than that,” said Coach Smart. “He continues to be explosive and continues to protect the ball.”
Georgia will travel down I-85 next Saturday to play the Auburn Tigers (3-1) at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
