Falcons Execs to Meet Again With Belichick

The Atlanta Falcons confirmed earlier reports this morning that former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick will be meeting with the Falcons top brass once again this weekend.

It was reported by NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport that Falcons owner Arthur Blank met one-on-one with Belichick last week. Blank, along with CEO Rich McKay and Falcons general manager Terry Fontenot, will meet with Belichick this weekend for a second interview. Some observers say this appears to be the final step in appointing the six-time Super Bowl winner head coach of the Falcons.

So far, Belichick is the only one of seven head coaches interviewed so far to get called back for a second interview.

The Falcons cannot hire a new coach until at least two minority external candidates are interviewed in person, which is part of the Rooney Rule. Raheem Morris (L.A. Rams) and Ben Johnson (Detroit Lions) are still in the championship hunt and have not yet been interviewed.
