It was reported by NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport that Falcons owner Arthur Blank met one-on-one with Belichick last week. Blank, along with CEO Rich McKay and Falcons general manager Terry Fontenot, will meet with Belichick this weekend for a second interview. Some observers say this appears to be the final step in appointing the six-time Super Bowl winner head coach of the Falcons.
Barring a snag in negotiations or a future development (still have to get a signature), I’m expecting Bill Belichick to become the next head coach of the NFC South* Atlanta Falcons. His previous rapport with #Falcons CEO Rich McKay creates comfort he can’t mimic in any other… https://t.co/lnVHs88mHK

So far, Belichick is the only one of seven head coaches interviewed so far to get called back for a second interview.
The Falcons cannot hire a new coach until at least two minority external candidates are interviewed in person, which is part of the Rooney Rule. Raheem Morris (L.A. Rams) and Ben Johnson (Detroit Lions) are still in the championship hunt and have not yet been interviewed.
