The winds of change were blowing through Flowery Branch today.
As news broke of the Atlanta Falcons signing of Kirk Cousins as its new starting quarterback, the team announced it signed a new tight end while parting with a cornerback.
Various media sources stated the team has signed Charlie Woerner, a tight end with the San Francisco 49ers, to a three-year, $12 million deal with the Falcons. Woerner played football for his Rabun County High School and the University of Georgia. In 2023, as a 49er, he achieved 11 receptions and 120 receiving yards. This deal will not be official until Wednesday at 4 PM when the league year starts.
Meanwhile, cornerback Jeff Okudah will be leaving Atlanta for Houston, Texas. He has reportedly signed a one-year, $6 million deal with the Texans, ending his time with the Falcons. NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero broke the story.
The #Texans are signing CB Jeff Okudah to a 1-year deal worth up to $6 million max value.
Agents Kevin Conner and Robert Brown of @unisportsmgmt confirmed the deal. Okudah is still only 25 years old.
