GSU Panthers Baseball Scores A New Stadium

The Georgia State University baseball team will soon have a new place to play.

That’s because the University System of Georgia’s board of regents today green-lighted construction of a new baseball stadium for the Panthers baseball club.

The stadium, which will be located downtown on the current location of GSU’s Green Lot along Pollard Boulevard, will have 1,000 seats and won’t be too far from Center Parc Credit Stadium, where the Georgia State Panthers football team plays. Right now, the team’s current facility is in Panthersville, 12 miles away from downtown Atlanta.

“We thank the Board of Regents and staff for their support,” said Charlie Cobb, Director of Athletics for GSU, in a statement. “There is a lot of work ahead, but this is a very exciting day for Georgia State Athletics. A new, modern facility on campus, accessible to our students and fans and convenient for our student-athletes will be a tremendous boost to [our] baseball program.”

The school plans to start design and construction of the stadium soon, with completion scheduled for the start of the 2026 season in February of that year. It’s budgeted at $15.85 million, funded by GSU Athletic Association gifts and reserves and Foundation funds and gifts, according to the school.

The Panthers baseball team has been playing non-consecutively since 1966. The team currently has a 24-29 record this season.
