Hawks Clinch Play-In After Defeating Pistons

The Atlanta Hawks are now assured a shot at post-season play.

They defeated the Detroit Pistons 121-113. This win clinches a berth in the Play-In Tournament to advance to the NBA Playoffs. This is the third consecutive season the Hawks have made the Play in Tournament. They have won six of their last seven games, defeating the Pistons, Bulls, Celtics (twice), Trail Blazers and the Hornets.

The Hawks only yielded the Pistons in the second quarter, and only by a point. Otherwise, it was all Hawks, who had as large as a 22-point lead in the third quarter.

Jalen Johnson got 28 points on the night, with 14 rebounds, 11 assists, and 4 three-pointers, a triple-double for the first time in his career. De’Andre Hunter got 26 points, with 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Dejounte Murray had 24 points, 11 assists, and 4 rebounds. Other key scorers for the Hawks were Clint Capela and Bogdan Bogdanovic, with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Teamwise, the Hawks shot 54% to the Pistons 45%. Their three-point shooting was 34% over the Pistons 33%.

The Hawks have a tough schedule to look forward to in the next few days. They play Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday and the Denver Nuggets on Saturday.
