Sports journalist Fabrizio Romano was the first to report that a deal was imminent, followed by The Athletic‘s MLS and USMNT insider Tom Bogert.
Atlanta United has not confirmed that a deal was in place as of this posting.
Giakoumakis, if his departure is confirmed, will leave an impressive record behind in his two-year tenure as a forward with the Five Stripes. His total career record in 38 games played is 22 goals, 5 assists, 43 on target shots out of 105 total attempts, and a 74.75% pass accuracy rate.
This comes days after the dismissal of Atlanta United head coach Gonzalo Pineda, and two assistant coaches. The team is struggling with a 4-8-4 regular season record.
Story developing.
