The first half the the season for the Atlanta Braves so far has been a bigger struggle to stay on top than many thought. Hurt pitching-wise by the season-ending injury of starter Spencer Strider and a hitting slump that quieted the bats of the Braves offense in the last few weeks, the Braves now sit in second place behind the red-hot Philadelphia Phillies.
The Braves still have time to catch up to the Phillies before the All-Star break. They are six games behind the Phillies, but the team is currently on a two-game (so far) winning streak. With offense starting to improve, there’s hope the Braves can challenge the Phillies for the top of the National League East before the season’s halfway mark.
