With the second consecutive win now in the record books, could this be the end of the Atlanta Braves’ summer swoon?
Today, the Braves beat the visiting Tampa Bay Rays 7-3, taking the first game in a three-game series. Chris Sale‘s seven innings of effective pitching and early scoring by Marcell Ozuna and Austin Riley helped put the game away early for the Braves. The team got 12 hits today, while the Rays only picked up 8.
The home win today was refreshing, coming off a recent five-game losing skid against the Washington Nationals and the Baltimore Orioles. The Braves are now 37-30 for the season and 8.5 games behind the Philadelphia Phillies.
Earlier in the game, outfielder Michael Harris II left the field due to a left hamstring tightness, according to the Braves. Manager Brian Snikter said after the game Harris II will go on the injured list. His MRI is scheduled for tomorrow.
