The Atlanta Braves ended their losing skid Tuesday night with a decisive victory over the Philedelpia Philies.
They won the game 9-3, adressing concern that the divisional title winning team hadn’t been looking like one in their four game losing streak.
Ronald Acuna Jr. went 3-5 with two homers, two RBI’s and three runs.
In their last complete series against the Miami Marlins, the National Leauge East champs got swept in the three game series. The Marlins outscore the Braves collectively 36 runs to 13. The Braves have not been swept since their two games series against the Boston Red Sox in July 25-26.
The Braves then lost the home opener with the Philedelphia Philies Monday, 1-7, causing many to wonder if the Braves have started coasting on their laurels after winning the title. They did clinch a first-round bye and home field advantage that day due to the St. Louis Cardinals beating the Brewers. The Braves would face the winner of the No. 4 vs. No. 5 Wild Card in a five-game NLDS starting October 7th.
They remain 3.5 games ahead of the Dodgers in the National Leauge, and are two games ahead of the Baltimore Orioles overall.
The Braves have 11 more games to play before their regular season ends and they can focus on October post season play. They have one more home game with the Phillies, then a road trip with the Washington Nationals, then three games with the Chicago Cubs, than the final series against the Nationals again.
