Hawks Beat Magic 120-119 in Mexico City

The Hawks went to Mexico City and got a win against the Orlando Magic.

The 120-119 victory over the Magic came thanks to a huge performance by Trae Young, scoring 41 points, 33 of those in the first quarter. He also got 8 assists, including one to Dejonte Murray in the final seconds of the game that led to a game-winning three-point shot.

Young said he liked playing in the largest city in Mexico, the team’s third trip there. They are now 2-1 in Mexico.

“I love the energy of the arena tonight, the electricity. It was fun playing here,” said Young to the Associated Press. “I know we’re obviously probably going to expand the league and expand it to a couple more cities. I mean, I’m going to be open to playing here. This is an unbelievable place to play.”

An audience of 20 thousand saw the game’s momentum flip back and forth between the Hawks and the Magic. The Hawks led 8 times while the Magic led 6 times. The Hawks shot 48% while the Magic shot at 46%. Orlando had the most points in the paint, 58-50.

Jalen Johnson scored 19 points. Murray scored 16, and Bogdan Bogdanovic had 15 points. Clint Capella had the most rebounds of any Hawk, with 11.

The Hawks will be coming home to State Farm Arena to play the Miami Heat this Saturday at 7:30 PM.
