Three Days of Sports in the ATL

If you’re looking for live sports to enjoy near the grill this weekend, you are in luck.

Because that’s what Atlanta will have plenty of this three-day weekend.

While we still have to wait for the Falcons (whose first regular season game is September 10th) and the Hawks on October 27th, there are plenty of exciting games to be seen this weekend.

High School Football

Friday nights are all about football in Atlanta, mostly high school football as varsity teams all over the metro area compete for a championship later this season.

College Football

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets face off against the Louisville Cardinals tonight at Mercedes Benz Stadium in the first college football game of the season in the Atlanta area. This is Head Coach Brent Key‘s second year at Tech, and he went 4-4 last year. He and the Jackets are hoping for better results this season.

Tomorrow night, attention will turn to Athens at Sandford Stadium, where the Georgia Bulldogs will start their season against the Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks. Head Coach Kirby Smart and his team are hoping for their third National NCAA Football Championship this season. Carson Beck will be throwing the ball for the Dawgs while hopes remain high that the lauded offensive line can keep dominating the competition this year.

Atlanta Dream Basketball

The WNBA team faces the Minnesota Lynx tonight at 8 p.m. The Dream this year is 17-19, the same record as the Lynx. They currently rank #5 in the Eastern Conference.

Atlanta United Soccer

The Five Stripes are headed to Dallas to take on FC Dallas at 8:30 PM tomorrow. Dallas is favored to win by Google (41% FC Dallas over 32% Atlanta United),Β  but Atlanta United is hoping to bounce back after a 2-1 loss to Cincinnatti Wendesday.
